Fastener and Bolt Materials

Different materials for fasteners and bolts have unique properties that may be useful depending on the project. For example, some applications may require lightweight materials, those that have a high resistance to corrosion, durability and high integrity, or a resistance to chemicals. Nine Fasteners supplies fasteners and bolts made from the following materials, as well as various rare and specialty materials:

  • Alloy steel
  • Aluminum
  • Carbon steel
  • Silicon bronze
  • Stainless steel

Custom Fastener and Bolt Finishing and Plating

Another important factor to consider when personalizing custom fasteners and bolts is the type of finish or plating coating it. The coating can increase resistance to oxidation or offer an aesthetically attractive appearance, for example. Nine Fasteners offers the following finishes and plating options:

  • Black oxide stainless steel
  • Brass plating
  • Cadmium
  • Chrome plating
  • Head painting
  • Hot-dip galvanizing
  • Nickel plating

Types of Fasteners and Bolts

Our offerings include:

Also called an L-bolt, anchor bolts are prolific in industries that require concrete and masonry. When set in these types of structures, they attach crucial components to the base or frame of the structure.

Ideal for attaching wooden components to those that are made of metal, carriage bolts contain a round head that sits above a distinguishing square formation that helps to prevent the bolt from rotating when being tightened.

Containing a sloped shoulder on their heads, countersunk bolts are capable of fastening two components together, while then having the head of the bolt visible and flush with the surface to which it is being attached. This smooth, flush-sitting bolt is well suited for applications that require tight clearances.

Commonly found serving applications that require considerable load-bearing, a flange bolt’s head and integrated washer help to more evenly distribute stress.

Including threads on only a portion of the bolt, lag bolts are suited for facilitating a smooth attachment to wood. Depending on the application, lag bolts can be situated in a manner that better utilizes either the threaded or non-threaded portions of the bolt to help provide a secure attachment.
